TENTH MUSE

Insight: Local Margate artist, Leonie Cameron, will exhibit her latest work at the Margate Pride Art Map. Working collaboratively during the creative design process, we decided a typographic route was best. 'Tenth Muse' is inspired by Sappho, an ancient Greek poet (c. 630–570 BCE) famous for her lyric poetry exploring themes of love and longing for women. She is a foundational icon for queer women, and her legacy is the root of the terms "lesbian" and "sapphic".​

Solution:  After selecting fonts and a colour pallet to convey Leo's gorgeous work, I hand-stitched part of the typography to really showcase the delicacy and detail that can be expected from Leo's work.​​
